Cari Amici – Dear Friends,
On March 17, 2017 our Santa Barbara community lost a remarkable human being: Silvio Di Loreto.
He was a man of many talents. After being a B-25 navigator in WWII, he moved to Santa Barbara and started his professional life as a photographer. Then he became active in real estate in which he excelled and from which he officially ‘retired’ in the late ’70’s when he sold his company, Sunset Realty. From then on, he dedicated his life to philanthropy, community leadership, traveling and family.
The list of organizations he benefited and the list of Boards in which he served are very long indeed. We, the Italian Cultural Heritage Foundation of S.B., were one of them. He was the much-loved Honorary Chair of our Cinema Italiano as well as a much-valued Member of our Board. He was generous with both advice and financial support.
We will be joined in this “Tribute to Silvio Di Loreto” by the other two Italian-American organizations in town, the Italian-American Boot Club and UNICO Santa Barbara. Silvio was a member and a benefactor of both.
This is an event open to anyone who wishes to honor a person who generously gave back to our Santa Barbara Community in many ways that touched many, many lives.
Let us honor Silvio together! We warmly invite you to join us to share not only fond memories of his life but also to learn about his legacy to our Community. He was a fun-loving, warm and outgoing man and we will try to emulate him in creating a fun and uplifting event. By the way, he was a great chef and the meal that will be served at his tribute will be prepared following Silvio’s own recipes!
