Cari Amici – Dear Friends, 

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we will welcome Letizia Mattiacci, a chef who for over a decade, has been hosting popular culinary workshops at her cooking school, Alla Madonna del Piatto, near Assisi, in the Umbrian region of Italy.

Born in the Umbrian capital of Perugia, she learned to cook at the knee of her Sicilian mother. Later, after graduating from university, she travelled the world; lived in several countries outside Italy, including the U.S.A.; and worked as a behavioral ecology scientist.

In 2001, Letizia and her Dutch husband, Ruurd de Jong, decided to leave their academic careers to follow their dream of sharing with the world the beauty and the incredible food of Umbria.  Alla Madonna del Piatto Agriturismo and Cooking School opened in 2003 and has received international recognition ever since, including mention in the Seattle Times, Food and Wine magazine, National Geographic, Lonely Planet and an appearance on BBC television.

Over the years, attendees at Letizia’s agriturismo & school have included well-known travel & food writers and highly qualified food professionals from the U.S.A., Canada and Asia. Letizia’s recipes and tales of Umbrian life appear on her blog, Madonna del Piatto and in The American in Italia magazine.

We are honored to welcome her among us, to celebrate the cuisine of Umbria and together to be guided by her bountiful experience in la cucina italiana.

130 Middle Road, Montecito
(east-side, shortly north of Coast Village Road)

12:00 Noon

Price: $30.00 per person

The menu of the Pranzo will be:  antipasti, an Umbrian entree, salad, deserts and coffee, various beverages and spirits.  So bring your appetite!

PARKING

Given no more than 6 parking spaces at the Pranzo venue, CARPOOLING IS ENCOURAGED; additionally, pick-up and return of guests can be arranged from/to the Montecito Country Mart’s parking lot for Vons, on the Coast Village Road side of its intersection with Hot Springs Road. 

Please provide 5 minutes notice by phone to Bill’s cell of 626-688-4965 for pick-up.

Because of its format and special venue, guests will be limited to 34, including not more than 15 to the cooking demonstration. The tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please refer to the “How to Reserve and Pay” section here below.
