INTRODUCTION
Pompeii was originally settled around the 7th century BC by the Oscan peoples. The port city was in a prime location  for trade as well as farming. The rich volcanic
soil from earlier eruptions of Vesuvius created prime
farmland for grapes and olive trees.

By the turn of the first century A.D., the town of Pompeii, located about five miles from Mount Vesuvius, was a flourishing resort for the most distinguished citizens of the Roman Empire. Elegant houses and elaborate villas—many filled with exquisite artworks and sparkling fountains—lined the paved streets.  And then Mount Vesuvius erupted…

Here are the details of our event:

Price:  $46 per person

The presentation will be preceded by a typical Neapolitan brunch prepared by the Chef of La Cumbre CC especially  for our group.  As in the past, our good friends and La Cumbre CC’s members, Fred and Diane Sidon, booked our group — this time for a meal with a Neapolitan flavor.

Additionally, if you wish to drink wine with your meal, we can now sell you drinks “tickets” you can use to buy wine, beer or soft drinks at the Club’s bar.  Each ticket, purchased for cash at the check-in or later, has the denomination of $5 and it is inclusive of taxes. Here is how you can use them:

• To buy a glass of wine you will need 3 $5 tickets
• To buy a glass of beer, you will need 2 $5 tickets;
• To buy a glass of soda, you will need 1 $5 ticket.

Re.  Wines. You will have a choice of Palazzo Chianti Classico and Scarbolo Chardonnay. However, it is also possible to order another similarly-priced wine from the Club’s menu and pay with your “tickets”  The cash collected from the sale of the drink “tickets” will serve to reimburse Fred for the drink charges that appear on his Club account for that date.
